Device Repair Services

Commonly Asked Questions

When can I get my device repaired and how long will it take?

If needed parts are not in Luke’s stock, shipping can take 3-5 business days, however, overnight and express 2-day shipping options are available for an additional cost. Repair times are only given as estimates and do not act as a definitive and guaranteed timeframe for a repair.

Why does repairing cracked back glass cost so much?

Apple uses extremely strong adhesive on the back glass, making it pretty much impossible to do a glass-only repair without special equipment. We opt to replace the entire device housing, which is where the majority of components are transferred into a new shell. In addition to the much higher part cost, the repair can take upwards of three hours in some cases. Not only does this mean that you will have a brand-new-looking phone without data loss, but it also means you can pick a new color if you desire!

Where do you purchase your components and tools?

Depending on the customer’s price range and needs, parts will be purchased accordingly. Generally, I order the specifics from a trustworthy online wholesale seller. Because of their reliability, strength, support, and shipping time, I purchase most parts from them. Otherwise, the parts are ordered from dependable sellers elsewhere. As of spring of 2022, Apple® has begun to sell original (OEM) parts and tools to third-party repair shops, which is also offered.

What payment methods to you accept?

Standard cash and paper checks are accepted. Checks can be written out to “Luke Kranyak” and please list the device model/color in the description.

In addition, Venmo, Paypal, and CashApp, (@lukesterk). are accepted.

What’s the difference between aftermarket and genuine/OEM parts?

Genuine Apple parts are engineered and tailored for each product, and go through extensive testing to ensure the highest quality, integrity, safety, and reliability. After installation, these parts will go through a calibration and programming process through Apple. This will ensure full device functionality, no “non-genuine” messages in settings, and will restore functions such as battery health and True Tone. These are the same parts that Apple makes available to Apple Authorized Service Providers.

Aftermarket parts can be quite comparable to genuine parts and are more cost-effective. Screens may have slightly lower brightness, not as vibrant colors, a thicker overall profile, thicker bezels, and sometimes not as durable. Batteries may not last as long and will not show an updated battery health in the Settings app. After the repair, your iPhone may display a warning about the “genuineness” of the replacement part. This can cause the battery health and performance reporting functions to no longer work. These messages will not affect the usability, safety, or function of the device itself in most cases.
